TOWARDS ZERO IMPACT
To achieve its zero impact final purpose, UTOPIA will go far beyond the building construction inspired by Reynolds techniques.

towards zero impact

UTOPIA building will be suspended in pillars to reduce the soil sealing, surrounded by a studied collection of trees from traditional portuguese vegetation species (located in a way that allows the sunlight to pass through and warms in winter, and that provides shade in the warmer months), by a ‘kitchen garden’ able to satisfy the needs of the canteen and and it will be ensured a careful respect for the nature and species contained within.

The kitchen garden and the orchard also aim to contribute to a social awareness of Plako staff, being the plan to obtain the better possible quality using biological agriculture techniques.

UTOPIA project intends to implement more usual measures as well: reuse of rainwater, water heating from solar energy, microgeneration, recycling and domotics.
